Sabah follows the standard Monday to Friday working week, similar to most Malaysian states. If a public holiday falls on a Sunday, a replacement holiday is usually observed on the following weekday based on the official Sabah holiday schedule for that year.

These holidays generally apply to government offices, schools, and most businesses throughout Sabah, although actual operating hours may still vary by sector. Tourism operators, plantation industries, retail outlets, transport services, and essential businesses may continue operating depending on travel demand and local service needs.
